The New Jersey Nursing Students, Inc. Board of Directors welcomes all nursing faculty, deans, and directors to attend our annual convention! 

 

After our opening ceremony, we invite all nursing deans, directors, and faculty to a luncheon and listen to an honored speaker. At this year's luncheon, Kate Gillespie, MBA, RN, NE-BC, President of New Jersey State Nurses' Association (NJSNA),  will discuss the importance of nurses and students becoming involved in their professional nursing organizations.

Kate Gillespie, MBA, RN, NE-BC, is Assistant Vice President for Orthopedic and Neuroscience Service Line for Virtua Health System in Marlton, New Jersey.  She is responsible for overseeing strategy and program development for the orthopedic and Neuroscience service lines. She has over 40 years of health care experience with 20 years delivering bedside care and nursing oversight. She received her MBA in 2010 and obtained her Black Belt Six Sigma certification. Where she worked on lean projects and operational process improvement.  In her current role, her focus is building a strong foundation of outstanding clinicians, driving market growth, and establishing best practice models across the system’s continuum of care. She is preparing the service line for value-based reimbursement, which includes a focus on cost reduction, quality outcomes and customer experience throughout the episode of care. In 2015, Virtua entered into the CMS BPCI for total joints and successfully achieved 15% under CMS target pricing and while maintaining high-quality outcomes.

She currently holds the position of President of the New Jersey State Nursing Association.  She has been actively involved in NJSNA for over 17 years including chairperson of the Interested Nurses Political Action Committee (INPAC) and multiple other positions.

She has presented at multiple conferences, including AAOS/NAON and HFMA on topics around CMS Bundled Payment, and the successful journey of Virtua’s Joint Replacement Institute.
