There are three different ways to attend the convention.

You may attend as a regular student attendee, monitor, or delegate. For those who may be unfamiliar with the NJNS convention and monitors or delegates, here are some commonly asked questions:

GENERAL STUDENT ATTENDEES

Nursing students come to the NJNS Annual Convention to listen and learn from nurse professionals from across the state. This two-day event is an amazing opportunity for not only nursing students, but also future nursing students and current nurses. There are countless breakout focus sessions, an extensive exhibit hall, and a welcoming opening ceremony featuring renowned nurse leaders from the country.

Students may attend convention for any part of the two days. For more information, and registration, please see below!

DELEGATES

Delegates are representative student leaders of their nursing school. At convention, there are House of Delegate meetings that occur throughout the span of the event, from Wednesday evening through Friday afternoon. In these meetings, delegates vote on certain topics, including bylaw changes, the resolution, and elections for the next Board of Directors. It is an extremely valuable experience for students to learn about parliamentary procedure, as well as participate in the affairs of the NJNS. Please note that each school can send one delegate for every 25 NSNA members in their school.

Delegates must be present at all House of Delegates meetings  Apart from these mandatory meetings, delegates are free to explore convention and all of its opportunities at their own leisure.

Delegates will receive free registration courtesy of NJNS. Hotel rooms must be covered by the student. However, check with your dean/director/nursing school regarding financial assistance.

To become a delegate, please see form below.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us! We look forward to seeing you in the House of Delegates!

MONITORS

At convention, monitors are selected to assist NJNS Board of Directors for the duration of convention. As a monitor, students are responsible for assisting with NJNS registration, fundraising booths, and dooring during focus sessions, among other responsibilities delegated at the discretion of the NJNS Board of Directors.

Monitors are also required to stay 7:00 pm Wednesday, February 26th through 2:00pm Friday, February 28th or conclusion of the convention. These student leaders will be assigned certain duties lasting for several hours during the convention. Apart from these mandatory duties, monitors are free to explore convention at their own leisure.

Monitors will receive free registration and hotel stay courtesy of NJNS.

To become a monitor, please see form below. Please note that this year, the monitor application selection has been revised to include a one-page essay of your qualifications. Once we have reviewed all applications, selected students will be notified by February 9, 2020 . If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us!

We look forward to seeing you at convention!
